Are you doing preconception care to prepare your body for a successful IVF transfer?
We talk a lot about preconception care. At AIM Women’s Wellness Center, we are firm believers that taking the time before you start trying to conceive to get your body as healthy as possible has a HUGE impact on your chances of getting pregnant and having a healthy baby.
The ideal amount of time to spend on preconception care before you try to get pregnant is between 90 – 120 days. This is your window of opportunity to have an impact on the health of your eggs and ovaries (and his sperm too).
A lot of people don’t understand that if you are ovulating this cycle, your body started preparing that egg three months ago. What you do and what you eat during this time period has a direct influence on the health of that egg when it meets with the sperm.
Preconception Care: Equally Vital for Natural and IVF Conceptions
Often, there’s a misconception that if you’re turning to IVF, the general rules of preconception care might not apply as strictly. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Whether you’re trying to conceive naturally or planning for an IVF cycle, preconception care is equally significant.
In IVF, as in natural conception, the health and quality of the egg and sperm are paramount. In fact, with the emotional and financial investments involved in IVF, it’s all the more critical to ensure your body is in its best condition to support the process. Preconception care can increase the success rates of IVF transfers and enhance the likelihood of a healthy pregnancy.
Remember, IVF isn’t a bypass to natural processes; it’s a facilitator. It still relies on the fundamental building blocks of conception – healthy eggs and healthy sperm. Thus, the care, nourishment, and preparation you offer your body during the crucial 90-120 day window will undoubtedly influence your IVF outcomes.
