How long before trying to get pregnant should you stop birth control?

On this episode of The Fertility Godmother Show on Youtube, I answer this important question about birth control and fertility.

How long will it take until you can try getting pregnant after the pill? I also talk about fertility after birth control in its other forms, and why a gap is important for preconception care.

So, how long should you be off of birth control before you start trying to conceive?

Well, the short answer is… IT DEPENDS!

There are many forms of Birth control on the market, and the answer depends on what type you are on!

Birth control pill

Before you try getting pregnant after the pill, you should wait for at least three months of being off it. The pill deregulates your menstrual cycle, and you’ll have to give your body time to adjust and your cycle to get back to normal, post-pill.

You also should use this time to get your body ready for pregnancy by taking the right supplements, changing your lifestyle, and eating right. This makes sure that you have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby.
